moving data from laptop to pc

I was wondering if I can move data from my laptop, office
2000, to my pc, office xp, via ubs cable? Will the
laptop recognize the pc's hard drives?

Any ideas if this will not work? My company is being
bought and I want to make sure I have access to my data
at home.

Hi Mel,
If both PCs have a network card, get a cross-over cable and hook the two
together to make a simple local network. It must be a cross-over cable. If
you have only regular cables, but a $20 hub and connect both PCs to this.
