Moving EPS 2007 to a new server

Jamie

HI All,

I have been trying for days to backup and restore our current EPS 2007
server to a new server, and keep running into brick walls.#

The current site is http://companyweb/pwa - the new site is
http://pwa.company.com. The user i am logged inwith is the domain admin
account. Both server have Moss 2007 installed on them, the original server
has never been setup correctly so i have built a new Moss server and imported
the Moss databases as single sites and that all works well, my problem is the
Project server.

I have tried using the stsadm command line the sharepoint backup utility,
but I am getting nowhere, the error messages from the sharepoint backup
utility are : -

Project Server Application Completing restore 8/12/2008 1:42 PM Object
Project Server Application failed in event OnPostRestore. For more
information, see the error log located in the backup directory.
FileNotFoundException: The site with the id
1a76a2bf-c0c2-4dd8-aec4-d1b615130ebe could not be found.

pwa Completing restore 8/12/2008 1:44 PM Object pwa failed in event
OnPostRestore. For more information, see the error log located in the backup
directory. InvalidOperationException: ProjectSite.OnPostRestore

The databases are created ok.

The errors i get when trying the stsadm are :-

[8/12/2008 1:40:08 PM]: FatalError: [pwa] Can't obtain
ProjectPSISharedApplication restoring ProjectSite 'pwa.

[8/12/2008 1:40:08 PM]: Error: Object Project Server Application failed in
event OnPostRestore. For more information, see the error log located in the
backup directory.

Thanks in advance
Jamie

Do you try to install the project server and then restore the databases of
project server 2007 in the new installation?
Just like a test

HI Jose,

Yes i have installed project server 2007 in the Moss 2007 environment. I
have tried without a Project Web Access Site Setup and also with one setup
but still get he same problem. When i am doing the backup with the sharepoint
backup i just select the top level of the "Project Server Application" i have
also tried it with the "PWA site " but still no joy.

Jamie,

Are you using the same service account across both servers? If not, check
the new service account has the correct db permissions.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the responce, are we talking about the service account on Project
or on Moss? when i import the project databases are created.

When i setup moss, i followed the following two videos
http://blogs.technet.com/josebda/ar...ss-installation-videos-from-rodney-viana.aspx

where should i be looking for the service account?
