moving equations in Word v. X for Mac

B

Bob

I am having difficulties aligning equations I have imported and created using
equation editor in a MS Word document. I want to switch from in-line to
having the text wrap around the equation (or vice versa). I select the
equation and try to format it using format:eek:bject and then click the button
corresponding to my desired equation placement. If I try to go from in-line
to a not in-line placement (or vice versa) the equation editor opens, then
closes, and I get an error that says "source file not found ..." or something
like that, and it refuses to move the equation. This happens with equations
that I have imported and created in the document, and I have no problems
editing the equations with equation editor. Any suggestions on how to fix
this would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

There's more than one way to skin this cat, so others may offer
additional suggestions.

Here's one way.

Go to Tools>Customize>Menus and Toolbars
click the Commands tab
in the right side list of commands scroll down to Insert Horizontal Frame
Drag the words Insert Horizontal Frame to any toolbar then let go
Click OK to close the dialog box.

Now you have a button that will let you put a frame around any picture
or any equation editor equation.

Select an equation (single-click it - don't double-click or Equation
Editor will open, which is not what we want to have happen).

With the "handles" showing in the equation object click the new Insert
Frame button you just made.

Now you can drag the equation object anywhere you want.

You can have text flow around the equation object by using the Wrapping
control on the formatting palette. Choose Style: tight.
