Moving Files to New Puter

G

Gary

Hi

Have a nearly 3 year-old Dell laptop with MS OFFICE on it.

Just purchased a new desktop HP

Used PC Relocator to transfer all files over to my new HP puter

Everything went fine, but when I try to use OFFICE, I'm asked for numbers that apparently were on the original software.
I can't for the life of me find that software and those registration numbers on the authenticity certificate

Am I just SOL or is there a way to contact Microsoft and have them verify that I purchased this software with my Dell laptop? I'm kinda pinched for money ready to retire. Sure hoping I don't have to purchase a whole new OFFICE ($499)

Another question. Will this OFFICE software, originally on WINDOWS ME also run on my newer WINDOWS XP

Thank you

Gary

Since the software came with your computer, you will have to contact the OEM
for assistance.

The numbers would have been on a sticky label (either white or yellow)
attached to the CD case.
But, if the software came with your original DELL, you probably can't
(legaly) transfer it to the HP.
