original laptop running Office 2000 stolen. I have a Ghost BU of HDD.
New laptop running Office 2003.
Can I just move the PST file from the 2000 version to the folder in the
new 2003 version??

TIA

You can, but it's not recommended because you'll most likely overwrite
another file with the same name, which will corrupt your profile.
Instead, copy it to another location, such as the place where you keep your
other data, then open the file in Outlook (File > Open > Outlook Data
File...). At that point, you can copy what you want from it into your new
file. You could also just set it as your default and keep using it, but then
you would not have the benefits of Outlook 2003's new file format for PST
file.

Thanks for that.
Once I open Outlook & open the OLD pst file, everything is shown in TWO
sets of "Personal Folders", with Calender, Contacts, etc listed for each
personal folder.
I assume that I have to export the info in each (OLD) folder (eg:
Contacts) to a file & then import to the (New) Contacts in the new
personal folders???
Is any one format for exporting better than others?
TIA

You may drop the following two works from your vocabulary when it comes to
transferring Outlook data: Import and export. Do so now. Are they gone?
You have 2 PST files open in Outlook, right? Just copy the data you want
from one into the other using whatever method you usually use:
1. Drag and drop
2. Copy and Paste
3. Edit > Select All > Edit > Copy (or Move) to Folder...

You will want to copy from the old folder into the new one to take advantage
of Outlook 2003's improved file format.
