Moving from Control to Control takes 30 seconds or more

(Access 2000 Split database)

I have a split application that both the programs and the data reside on a
server. It was written in Access 2000. Users are running the Runtime of
Access 2000. The program has Access User level security in place. The
application runs fine on all but two of our computers. These two computers
are fairly new and run other MS Access Data bases fine. Some of which use
the same data tables (back end). Server is Windows 2000 Server and the
problem work stations are XP.

Problem is on these two computers when you bring up this one application. It
takes 30 seconds or more to move from control to control and eventually the
form will stop responding. Strange thing is that if you take the network
connection to 10-Full duplex (from its normal 100-Full duplex) the
application runs fine.

I have checked the network cabling and wire all the way to the server, it is
fine. Other computers plugged into the same network connection run fine. I
have tried different network cards in the computers. I have uninstalled
MacAfee Virus scan just in case. I have repaired\compressed the data and the
front end several times. I have relinked the data to the front end using
code that I have in the application. I have unchecked the name tracking
option. I have tried installing both the full version of Access 2000 and
Access 2003 (instead of the runtime). I have linked the front end to an
empty (tables but no data) backend.

I am about to wipe and reformat the computer, If any one has any ideas before
I do this please post.

You have correctly split the database, but neglected to run the programs
from each workstation. NEVER share a copy of the front-end. Not only is
performance impacted, but it is significantly easier to corrupt it. Even in
a situation where you are using a Terminal Server to run the program, make
sure that each user has a separate copy in his/her own folder on the server.
