I have had a lot of trouble when trying to move images by only small increments in word 2008 (same as pressing control + move on windows). Pressing alt + arrow keys is succesful in doing this for objects such as squares, circles and text boxes...but no such luck with moving images that I have inserted on the page. any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Are you sure the images aren't formatted as In Line with Text? In Line
objects can't be nudged.

Hi there,

I have tried 'wrapping' the image as square, tight and all the other options and still the object won't nudge. Is this what you were referring to ?

Thanks

Hi Blake;

I hadn't really noticed this before as I don't move pictures around very
much in Word once I place them. It appears you're right - although the
problem seems to be rather erratic. I just inserted a JPEG & nudging with
the arrow keys worked fine with or without the Option key... Then for no
apparent reason it just stopped working when using Option. I've tried
several different wrapping styles & several variations of Grid settings but
can't restore the Option+Arrow nudge. I'll submit this to MacBU as a bug.
It's always annoyed me that the Option key is used in Word but the Command
key is used in PPt & in Excel it makes no difference - all work the same.
This will give me an excuse to harp on that issue as well ;-)

There are 2 workarounds you might use if you aren't aware of them. One would
be to click the Grid button on the Drawing toolbar & set the Grid to smaller
increments. The other is to hold Shift while you drag the picture in order
to constrain movement horizontally or vertically depending on which
direction you start dragging.
