moving multiple calendar items

can anyone help me, i have a large number of calendar
entries each day and would like to know the easiest way of
moving those messages from day to day if need be. I am
aware of the "click the mouse button and hold shift,
select and drag method" however the problem i have with
that is with a large number of items on the calendar if
you click in the wrong place you loose your selection. Is
there an alternative to this method?
