Moving objects in 2007 Publisher

L

Leesah

I have a new computer that came with 2007 Office including Publisher.
Previously I was using the 2003 version of Publisher. In the new version,
when I move objects I can not seem to move them as precisely as I had been
able to in 2003. Is there a something I need to do to make objects move just
a hair? Is this something that other people have noticed?

Thanks for you help!

Leesah,

Select the object that you want to move, hold down the Alt key and press the
appropriate arrow key on the keyboard.

I use the arrow keys all the time for
nudging objects but am wondering
why press the Alt key...I cannot see
that it makes a difference.

If the insertion point is visible in a text box, the arrow keys will move it
but Alt-Arrow will move the box.
Clicking on the edge of the box will remove the insertion point and then
just Arrow will move the box.

There is an arrow nudge measurement in Options, Edit tab. You also can open the
Measurement toolbar and use it for nudging, but the default is not small.

I don't remember ever having to nudge in the 2003 version. Is this something
that is new to the 2007 version of Publisher?

No, it has been in every version. In Publishers 2002, 03 and 07 you don't have
to press Alt to nudge with the arrow keys. The default nudge measurement is in
Options.

Check the options you have selected under Arrange > Snap if you have not
already.
