Moving Office XP to a new computer

Toni

I've had a retail version of Microsoft Office XP installed on a Windows 2000 laptop that
will soon be retired in favor of a more powerful Windows XP laptop.

I have the original Office XP CD. But before I install, what do I need to do, to make
sure that I can activate my license on the new XP laptop?

Thanks,

Toni

Just install it. If it will not activate, use the telephone activation
method.

How many time have you loaded Office XP on other computers. With Office XP
you can load it on 10 different computer before activation runs out. Now
someone else told me this four years ago. I have a Microsoft Office XP disk
and I have used it on mor than 10 computer and it still works.

Other than the CD you need the activation key which is on a sticker on the
original CD case. If you no longer have the key, download keyfinder.exe
from http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/. Run the program on the old
laptop and write down the key for MS Office XP.

All the same CD, same license:

1. Office XP installed on a Windows 98 laptop, now retired.
2. Office XP installed on my existing Windows 2000 laptop, soon to be retired
3. Office XP installed on a Windows XP desktop, now inoperative & unbootable because of
a motherboard crash

(1&2 are same laptop, different hard drive.)

From what you wrote, I should have no problem with another laptop install. Since today's
a holiday, I'll wait until tomorrow (Tuesday) to install in case I need to use the
telephone activation method like JoAnn mentioned.

THANKS!!!

Toni
