I have backed up my .pst, .fav, .nk2 and *nk2.bak files for transfering to my
new computer (both running Outlook 2003). I created the new account profile
and added the .pst files. When I start outlook, everything looks fine. My
Inbox has all my recently viewed emails that I haven't done anything with yet
and the other folders, like sent, contacts and calendar are in working order.
My problem is after I copy the old .fav file over the existing .fav file
with the current username then reopen Outlook, everything looks fine at a
quick glance as my Shortcut folders are listed in the left panel. BUT when I
click on any of the shortcuts folders, including the Sent folder, I get this
error message: "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not
access the specified folder location. The folder no longer exists."
Actually, this same error message also occurs now when I click on any of the
folders accept the actual Inbox, including the previously working ssent,
contacts and calendar folders.
Can you tell me what I did wrong and how to correct this, please?
I have tried deleting the profile and creating two additional ones with the
same
result and am getting frustrated. I should mention that I have added the
other .nk2 and *nk2.bak files to the same location as the .fav file, but I'm
unsure of what to name them - username.* or outlook.* So I've tried it both
ways and it doesn't seem to make any difference with the above problem at
least.
If you could let me know which naming sceme is correct for them, I would be
grateful.
I will appreciate any assistance you may share on these two problems. Thank
you.
