moving project sites from server to another server.

Dear All,
How can i move sharepoint database from a server to another server with a
diffrent names. i konw that there is away which is taking a complete backup
of content database and config database and restore it . but config database
can not be opened in another server .i used to use to restore site by site
but it is a silly way and time consuming.

Hi Turki,

A few of questions...

1. Is your current SharePoint and SQL server residing on the same
server? Can you provide additional information on your network
infrastructure? The more the better...

2. Which version of SharePoint are you using on both servers? (WSS or
SPS)

3. Are these SharePoint sites that you want to move being used in
Project Server 2003 as Project Workplace sites?

4. Are you using the same version of SQL on both machines? SQL Server
2000 or 2005.

That should start the ball rolling ;-)

1. I have Small Scale Project Server WSS is on APP Server and SQL In DB Server
2. i'm using WSS
3. They are project server work place sites
4. yes same version SQL 2000
