Moving roles between project servers

We are moving Projects to a new server in Project Server 2003 by saving and
importing them as was recommended by support due to a database issue.
However we just noticed that we lost all of our roles in the projects. Is
there any way to recover/move the roles to the new server?

What do you mean by losing all your "roles"? If you mean that resource
asignments are lost, then it may be because the new environment does not yet
have an Enterprise Resource Pool.

Thanks for the thought but we already moved the resouce pool. all of the
role definitions show up on the new server, however none of the role
assignments show up in the imported projects for the users.

I still don't know what you mean by "roles" and "role assignments." Please
explain.
