Moving Shapes to an Existing Connector

Peter

Hi

I have an existing business process diagram in visio. After a meeting with
colleagues I now need to move some shapes around in the diagram.

Is it possible to move an existing shape to an existing connector in between
2 existing shapes?

It is extremely painful to remove existing connectors, only to have to
re-establish them again once I have moved the shape.

Please help!

If you are using Dynamic connectors you can drop a shape on an existing
connector and the connector will be broken and the shape inserted.

Hover the shape over the Dynamic Connector and two red squares will show.
These are the new connection points.

Thanks John - I am using dynamic connectors. However when I drag a shape
(process box) onto an existing connector which is joining two existing
shapes, all it does is move the connector around the box - keeping the
original join between the two shapes.

Any ideas?

I am using Visio Professional 2003 SP1. I am using the process shape from
the basic flowcharting stencil. Still does not function as you suggest it
should.

Anything else I should be doing?

A few things to check:

1. Make sure the "Enable connector splitting" checkbox is checked in
Tools>Options, General tab.
2. Select the offending connector and go to Format>Behavior. Make sure the
"Connector can be split by shapes" option is checked.
3. Select the Process shape and go back to Format>Behavior. Make sure the
"Shape can split connectors" option is checked.

Thanks Tim.

The first checkbox you suggest was already ticked, however the other two
were not. I ticked them and all now functions as I would expect.

Anyway of changing the behaviour for ALL shapes/connectors already on the
diagram, rather than doing it individually?

Thanks again.
