Moving Shapes

In earlier versions of Word (2003 e.g.) One used to be able to drag a shape,
such as a callout, and the sharp end of the triangle would not move. Now,
when moving the shape, the whole thing moves.
As an example, when you drag one end of a line or arrow, one end stays put.

Does anyone know of a way to drag a callout and keep pointed end anchored?
Or is this just not possible anymore.

To move a line, don't select one of the ends, but select the line
somewhere along its length.

I don't know what the "pointed end" of a callout might be. To move a
shape, click on an edge, not on a corner, and you'll get the cross-
shaped icon. Then you can drag the shape.

Thanks. I do know how to move graphic objects. There are several types of
callouts; rectangular, thought cloud, oval, etc. When you insert and create
one of them, there is an extension, usually triangular shape that extends
from the shape. The far end is the tip. That tip can be moved without moving
the shape. In Word 2003, I remember that when you moved the shape around the
page, that tip would stay anchored where you placed it; alas, no more.

I am not concerned with the behavior of lines, just with the various
callouts. It is inconvenient that every time you move the body of the
callout, you must then readjust the tip.

I'm seeing the same behavior in Word 2007/2010 vs. 2003. Creating the
callout in a drawing canvas (which is necessary for connectors to work, so I
thought it might be relevant) doesn't help. I guess this is just one of the
downsides of the new graphics engine. Even saving in Word 97-2003 format
doesn't help. Sorry!

Also, have you noticed the "regression" in the in context help files in
Office 2013? It used to be that you could click the question mark while you
were in the File>Options dialog boxes and get an explanation of each option.
Now, you get a generic "Word Help" dialog box for most of the categories in
the Options.

Get a little, lose a little.

Word help seems to grow a bit worse with each new version. This has been
going on for years. <sigh>
