Moving table between documents destroys formatting

Hello,

I'm trying to move a table between documents, and when I do (using copy & paste), the formatting on the pasted table is different — cells enlarge, things do not align where they did in the original, etc. Any idea what is causing this? (I'm trying to finish my Master's Thesis and this table issue is really giving me a headache!)

Thanks in advance,
David

I figured out what the issue was: I needed to go into paragraph formatting on the pasted table and check the "don't add space between paragraphs of the same style" button. It took me a couple of hours to figure this one out... Ugh.

Glad you found it :)

I prefer to use four dedicated styles in Tables ‹ Table Heading, Table Body,
Table Bullets, and Table Number.

I set them to 2 points space before and after.

I never trust that "Don't add space..." setting ‹ you never know quite what
it is going to do.

And never use Normal style for ANYTHING in a long document, otherwise you
will waste half your life hunting down these "inheritance" issues. Word
uses Normal style for its own purposes, leave it be and use something else
yourself, then you are in control!

Cheers
