I purchased office XP standard for my PC and want to also put it on my laptop. I have a friend who did something similar and now neither of his programs work. So the license agreement says only one computer. So do i have to buy another Office disk in order to install it on my laptop?

M

Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]

Office XP Standard (except for Students and Teachers edition) does allow for
installation to a desktop and a portable. Re-read your EULA. Open any
Office application and check the Help->About to access the EULA.

It is true for all versions of Office that are not OEM or Students and
Teachers editions. READ the EULA.

1.1 Installation and use. You may install and use a copy of the Software on
one personal computer or other device located within your home.

Sounds to me like you can only load it on ONE computer. The above is
straight from the EULA.

From MY EULA -

1. GRANT OF LICENSE. Microsoft grants you the following rights provided
that you comply with all terms and conditions of this EULA:
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or
other device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device
for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.

What version of Office do you have? Is it a retail version? Is it Students
and Teachers version?

Ah, so this is a part of your employer's Software Assurance 6.0 Home Use
product agreement.

It is definitely NOT retail as it is only available through your employer
and it is indeed limited to one computer, desktop OR portable.

No acctually I went to one of the releases for Office 2003 and they gave
vouchers to order Free full copies of Office 2003 online, and that is what
they sent. Where I work isn't involved in the SA program, despite my
attempts to get them to join.
