Moving Visio Pages between Files

I would like to know if it is possible to move a "page" from one Visio file
to another. I can copy and paste shapes but it seems intuitive that you
should be able to combine pages from seperate files to create a consolidated
document. Even if I "insert object", "create from file", it put all the
objects on the active page.

Do you know if Microsoft has plans to write this in for future releases, or
is the basic architecture of Visio going to prevent this?

It's definitely on our wish list, but there are some technical hurdles
around solutions and event notifications. It just means that what seems
like a straightforward feature is actually a significant undertaking.

I've created a swim lane (functional lanes) diagram (diagram A) outlining a
business process in a one page visio file. I have a different visio file
that is a grouping of related processes (file B) and would like to insert
diagram A into file B.

I understand from the message below that there is no simple way to insert a
page from one visio file into another. As a workaround I tried the 'Copy
Page" option in the source page and Paste into a newly created page in the
destination file. The functional bands & shapes are copied into the new
page, but the bands are mis-ordered and the shapes are all over the place.
As it stands I have a good deal of work ahead of me to rearrange the shapes
in the destination document.

Does anyone know of a better workaround?

I know it has been almost 4 years since the post below, but this feaute has
been in Excel for years. Why would it be so hard to have that feature in
Visio?
