Moving Windows

Hi, Two items here:-

Firstly, when working between two different windows using copy & paste from one to another. Why do the windows constantly move? Granted I do use two screens but maximise a window on each screen.

I go to window one, copy the cells needed. Move to window two to paste, it becomes active & window one shrinks & goes smaller. When i go back to window one it has moved is in the wrong place & usually info is obscured by being off screen. Usually it takes three maximise clicks to get the window back to full screen & in the correct place.

This problem was around on the old version of Office & I cant believe it has not been fixed in 2008!

Any solutions anyone??

Try placing the windows by using the windows menu to Arrange the windows.
See if they change size and locations then. If it still happens, please be
more specific about what is happening when you click on a window. Does it
really make a difference if something is on the clipboard to paste?

I already tried that but arrange still places all windows on my first screen & does'nt put any in the second screen. Anyway, I dont want to change the arrangement of my windows, ijust want them to stay where I leave them! No other application on the mac has this problem. why cant Microsoft get it right???!

More than this, if I am opening a new file that I have already created it opens behind all other open windows. The only way to get to see the open document is to go to window, select another open window, go to this then go to window & select the original document that I was trying to see.

Sometimes even this has to be done more than once to get a document to the front which surely should open @ the front in the first place??????!

Yes it should. Are you using workspaces? How many documents are open? How
many windows. Are you talking about multiple windows per workbook? I must
admit, that I haven¹t seen Excel windows moving when activated, unless they
had previously been positioned by an arrange.

Hi,

am using Spaces but Excel is all in one space. I wont go into that now as it is another open issue alltogether!

I have tied it down to this :-

I open one document 'invoice' i shall call it on monitor 2 & maximise it to the size of the screen.

I haver another document 'order' i shall call it * maximise this to screen 1

I select an item from invoice on screen one & save it.

I move to order on screen 1 & as i click the middle of the window, invoice on screen 2 goes smaller & moves position on the screen.

I copy the info I require from order on screen 1

I come back to safari to type this message

I go back to excel & none of the windows I was using are at the front, all are obscured by other arranged documents, i have done nothing.

I eventually move all obscuring windows out of the way

I get back my original document to screen 1

I click invoice in screen 2, it is still a smaller window. I click the + top left of the window, nothing happens

I click the + top left agin, window maximise to the whole of screen 2 & I can now paste my info.

Surely this is not right, no other app I have ever used works in this way but Excel 2004 & 2008 are just like this.

I agree that the windowing has been a little flakey since OS 10. I can¹t
really offer any suggestions, except to try to position the windows with the
title bar, and resize them by dragging the lower right corner. Yes when you
switch to another application and back again, only the current window is on
the top. This is an OS issue. But, you should express your concern and
suggestions by using the Send Feedback choice in the Help menu.
