MP3 file no transition

I have created a PP show and inserted an MP3 audio file. The audio plays
just fine except that the show will not transition off of the first slide
unless I double click. I have set the music file settings to run the show
automatically for a determined lengh of time (20 slides). Once the slide
transitions off of the first one, everything runs fine. The music continues
to play through the remaining 19 slides automatically.

I have tried all sorts of modifications to try and get this to work:
changed the start audio file to "with previous" and "after previous"; changed
the slide transition time to zero; etc. I even replaced the audio file with
a different MP3 file and a WAV file but still experienced this same problem.

The PP show transitions perfectly if I choose to run it while playing the
audio from CD.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with MP3 or embedded or linked
audio files?

The PP slideshow was created in PP 2002 SP3 running Windows 2000. I've also
tried playing the show on a Windows XP machine; to no avail.

Thanks.

Do you have anything on that slide that is animated and requires a click to
play? Go to Slide Show > Custom Animations and look to see if the audio file is
the only thing listed. Also select slide #1 and go to Slide Show > Slide
Transition and check to be sure that you haven't check the box next to "On mouse
click".
