mpp files in Viewdrop folder

I have 7 .mpp files in the viewdrop folder. Been there for a couple of
months with no apparent ill effects. I just found them while chasing another
problem.

I thought I'd only find .xml files in Viewdrop folder.

Anybody know why they're there? Can I just delete them?

I couldn't paste in a screen shot but the directory is C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office Project Server 2003\BIN\VIEWDROP and the files are:

24A3C693-4883-43F7-9DE1-7CC3EC3C4106.mpp
01285E31-AF7F-44D1-94FE-5DD3C3C63A99.mpp
22283D3A-A305-40DF-9BAB-2F12E3C1D009.mpp

plus 4 more. All are dated 8th and 9th March.

This is definitely strange in my opinion as I thought only XML files were
supposed to be there as well.

If they have been there for a long time, I would say that you could delete
them. But as to why they are there, I could not tell you.

Thanks, Jonathan. That was my feeling too.
I'm still curious so if anybody else can shed any light on it, I'd be
grateful.
