I am having problems openning saved word files and new documents using
Windows98/MSoffice 2000. I just recently installed updates that were
suggested and since then I get a permenant error 1) low on resources to start
the program 2) winword.exe will not start...I have been sucessful by opeining
documents going to my start menu and run winword.exe /a which allows me to
pull word and then open documents using that. Is there anything I can do
where I can go to the old fashioned way of double clicking on a saved word
document and opening it and starting a new document w/o going throuh run
winword.exe /a? Thnaks for the help!

Hi Thanks for the prompt response. I tried to loacate the Normal.dot files
and attempted to run *.dot files..I cannot seem to locate any of the
Normal.dot File(s). Secondly I went into word and Tools+Options+File Folders
and hit the modify button to locate the MS Startup and when i went in the
folder there was nothing in there. The program was factory preset so I don't
have disk to reinstall....is there a way to check otherways or fix the
problems. Also, I tried to tun the link to the start-up and i get error of
missing library components to complete run....thank again.

In Windows XP, the folder containing Normal.dot (which is the path shown for
"Document templates" on the File Locations tab of Tools | Options) is a
hidden folder. You have to tell Windows to display hidden and system files
and folders.
