MS Access 2000 with Tablet Input?

I have a new HP TC1100 tablet PC with XP Tablet Edition installed. I have
found that MS Access and MS Access-based applications will not accept input
from the handwriting pad or character pad. The onscreen keyboard does work,
but it is very time consuming to enter one key at a time with the pen.

All other applications function fine with the handwriting pad and character
pad inputs. Is this an issue with MS Access or the tablet PC?
