MS Access 2002 SP3 MS Acces 8

Edgar

Hi,

My PC specs are:
OS: Windows XP
MSOffice: 2002
I'am trying to install the software "Spectra for Windows". However, upon starting this software I receive the following message; "microsoft access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine"
Spectra is based on MS Access ver 8 and on my PC I have MS Access 2002 SP3.

MS Access 2002 runs perfectly.
Any suggestion to solve this issue?

Hi,

It's a registry entry issue.

My guess is that "Spectra for Windows" is running the runtime version of
Microsoft Access 97.

If you have a computer that runs the software without any problems try
copying the registry key from that working computer to this computer, the
registry key is

\\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Licenses\8CC49940-3146-11CF-97A1-00AA00424A9F

Otherwise you may want to contact the developers of this software.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the tip.
Actually on one machine it works, however on another machine it did not.

On the first machine, all existing databases try to start with the MSAccess version of Spectra and not MSAccess 2002.
How can I let only the datafiles of Spectra not to use MSAccess 2002?

On the other machine upon re-installing Spectra, I get:
"Self-registration error
One or more files did not properly self-reguster.

Folllowing files did not self-register:
1. C:\Windows\System32\Oc30.dll
Error:0x80040200

2. C:\Windows\System32\Tab32.ocx
Error:0x80040200"

When starting Spectra, I get:
"Error
can't find the Visual Basic for Applications dynamic-link library (DLL) Vba332.
Rerun the Setup program."

Any suggetion?
Thanks
Edgar

Hi Edgar,

You may want to check with the vendors of "Spectra".

Normally when developing runtime applications as the developer you would
create a shortcut that will launch the program and open the file, example:

c:\Runtime Location\MsAccess.exe "c:\name of file.MDB"
