MS access missing?

I am in windows ME using Microsoft Word XP (hope that is
not a conflict!) and I have no trouble opening MSW and then
loading a .doc file. However, if I attempt to click on a
..doc file I get the following error message:

1919 Error configuring ODBC data source, MS access
database ODBC error 6. Component not found in the registry.
Verify that the file MS access database exists and that you
can access it.

I also tried to update the file using the CD and got the
same error message. How to eliminate this problem?

I will try to figure out how to get back to this newsgroup,
