MS Access (Office) UNC Path Doesn't Work

I'm trying to use UNC paths to link to network files. When using the
Linked Table Manager I receive the error "You do not have access to the
folder... See your administrator." I do have access to the folder, I
can map a drive to the location and link to a file, open the path from
the run command and even use the UNC path in another non MS application
(setting the path to export a file to). All of these work. When I try
to use a UNC to link a table, or even in trying to set the default open
folder using a UNC it doesn't work. It also doesn't work when you click
on File/Open and paste/type the unc path in to open a file, Notepad, IE
and Wordpad all work but any Office app returns the above error. I'm
also using UNC paths in all of my VBA code and all of that works.

I've seen the posts about the hotfix relating to a DFS and from what
I'm told we are not using DFS. My laptop is running XP Pro SP-2 and I'm
using Office 2k SP-3.
From what I've seen, it's only MS Office. Is there some other issue
with Office 2k and using UNC paths?

I was now given Full Access to the server and it works, however giving
all of the users that I need fixed full access isn't a possible
solution. What is confusing me is that It works through Run and in
other Applications just not Access, Word and Excel.

Thanks,
Rich
