MS Access verse MS Outlook Contacts

My boss wants to know which product is better to manage a
personal database, MS Access or MS Outlook Contacts. My
understanding is more flexibilty and security come with MS
Access. If we use the contacts in MS Outlook for personal
data we can't lock it down and stop other departments from
viewing it. Any pro's or con's are welcome.

Access allows you to work with your data in endless ways. If you get into
using vba to program your database you can do all kinds of stuff with it.

I think it really boils down to your comfort level, need to customize, and
what you want to do with your data.

I would recommend using the wizard to create one of the contact databases
that comes with Outlook and then modifying it to meet your needs. If you
decide you don't need that level of design freedom and want to go to
Outlook, you could build a query to dump the data into a file that could be
imported into Outlook.

Hope that helps,

Rick B
