MS Auto Insert in Headers

I am wondering if there is a way to use an auto insert in a header as a
template and to have that auto inserted text not show the extension at the
end? In other words, can I use some text that I have created to Auto Insert
as a header in a Word document and when I inser the text, to not have the
..doc at the end?

The FILENAME field displays file name extensions if *Windows* is set to
display them. In other words, if you change the folder options of the
operating system, you will no longer see them.

Alternatively, ask in a programming group, such as
microsoft.public.word.vba.general, to learn if someone has a macro that can
do what you want (regardless of the Windows setting).
