MS framework unexpected error message

I too have upgraded from a G4 to MacBook with the new version of MS
Office. All the date from the G4 was transfered at the Apple store to
the new MacBook and I keep getting "an unexpected error occured when
trying to loat the Microsoft framework library" I have removed and re-
installed the software, per inst from the Mac folks, but the message
cont. I can use all the programs but the dialog box keeps coming up
and I want it to go away. Anyone have any ideas, I have downloaded the
most recent updates but no change.

The idiots at the AppleStore should have known that you cannot "Transfer"
Microsoft Office from one computer to another without re-running the Apple
OS X 10.4.9 (or 10.4.8) combo updater.

The updater can update only software that is on the computer when it
executes: if you subsequently add software that requires further updates,
you need to re-run the patch.

Run the patch and your error will go away :)

cheers

--Thanks for your reply, I have taken out all the old stuff when I re-installed, then I updated. So I'm sorry to be a dummy but I don't know how to run the patch again. What would it be called? and where would I find it? Thanks for your help.

Did you run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions after applying the OS X
update? Try that & see if the bugger goes away.

OK I tried that from the disk utility on the Mac and the bugger is
still there, even after restart. I have a Disk Warrior program (not
yet installed) should I run that?
Thanks, DS

Do you use Microsoft Entourage?

If not, look in your Microsoft User Data folder for a folder named Entourage
Identities.

Drag it to your desktop. This error can be produced if the Entourage
Identity does not match the installed version of Entourage.

Worth a try...

Cheers

Very good tip! When I tried to open Entourage it would not open and
directed me to rebuild the data base, which it could not do "unknown
error (-5000) occured". I do not us Entourage so can I just remove it?
thanks so much.
