MS Image composer?

S

Sick0Fant

Could someone please tell me where I can get a copy of MS Image Composer. I
used to have it, but have since lost the disk and it needs to be re-installed.

At first I wasn't concerned because I bought the latest FP, but--there's no
composer at all in this one. Why did they omit the image composer? How are
you going to put together a good-looking website without an image composer...
I'm mad.

If you have the FP98 CD or the standalone version of FP2000, disk 2, then you have IC 1.5, the last
version.

Why not get a more up-to-date program such as Paint Shop Pro that has so
many more capabilities?

T

Why?

MS Image Composer v1.5 can do basically everything that needs to be done with images being used on a
web site.

Have you looked at or tried Paint Shop Pro v. 8 or 9? There are so many
capabilities especially for anyone who is serious about presenting
photographs well. Here's a tutorial I wrote several weeks ago when v.9 came
out. It will give you a sense of a good workflow and all the other 'tool'
possibilities. It was written for the beginner.

I hope you'll read it.

I have no need to use Paint Shop Pro, PhotoShop or any other image application, as MS Image Composer
does everything that I need it to do. Have you ever took the time to see what can be done with MS
Image Composer.

I do however own:

PhotoShop 5.0
MS PhotoDraw 2.0
MS Digital Image Pro (use for non web related images)

There is no reason for people to upgrade their applications if they are happy with them, as long as
there current OS supports the application. All current versions of the Windows OS support MS Image
Composer, however I can't say that about PhotoShop 5.0

Tom,

side issue..

I think I had mentioned this before. I can hardly ever use Image Composer...it just eats memory and
doesn't release it...it's worse than PS as far as memory is concerned on my machine. I've never been
able to fix it...any ideas?

You are talking about Outlook and not Outlook Express, correct?

I would say the problem is with Outlook, which I don't use. Try the following, start your computer,
but do not start Outlook, then MIC along with other application, except Outlook.

Yah, that's the version I have too.

If I open one image and then close it..it hogs memory from IE, Outlook, and almost anything else I
try to use...have to reboot...even with 512m memory. Drives me nuts - gave up trying to fix it,

Oh my ...that's a strange and narrow attitude from someone who is supposed
to be technically knowledgeable. And which version of FrontPage do you still
use?
Yes, I tried Image Composer a number of years ago and found that other
programs do the job better and more easily.... that's why I usually upgrade.
Photoshop CS is a huge improvement over v.5!

ETC,

How is that a narrow view, Image Composer does exactly what I need to do, I have no use for the
features provided by PaintShop Pro or PhotoShop.

I think upgrading any application, just because it is updated is a waste of money, unless the update
give you features that you want or need, if not, then there is no reason to upgrade.

I still use FP2000 for my all ASP development, why because I don't need any of the features provided
by FP2002 or FP2003.

Correct. Outlook always has something running in memory, even when you close, unless you re-boot and
don't start it. Excel is also have a problem about releasing memory when closed, unless MS has fix
this.

Hmmmm you may be onto something here, with Outlook shutdown MIC doesn't have a problem.

How offensive.

Sorry we can't all be as unstrange and have an unnarrow attitude as you,
Eleanor. ;-)

While you may look down at people with disdain because they aren't up to
your standards, some of us do quite well with the software we use.

Being technically knowledgeable has nothing to do with software people use.
Knowing how to use it is what counts.

I, too, use Image Composer 1.5 for several things, and will continue to do
so.
