MS Off Pro 2007 Upgrade & Product Key Number

H

Hal

Hello all,
I recently upgraded my Dell and MS Office Pro 2003 with the Office Pro
2007. No problems there.

I also just bought a Compaq Presario F700 series notebook, and the MS
Office Pro 2007 that comes with it.
You cannot just run the MS OP 2007 in the notebook, it requires the
Product Key Number to activate it, as proof you purchased the program.

But when I tried to enter the PKN in the notebook, it refused to
accept it.
I checked the number again and again, and it is accurate.
But the Pro 2007 simply won't accept the number.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here, and how I can correct this?
Is it because it's an upgrade, and not the full version?
Thanks, Hal

Are you sure you are entering the OFFICE key and not your WINDOWS key?

Uninstall the existing Office software now on the notebook,
then install Office using your Office CD.

Thanks Gordon, yes, it is the OFFICE key, as it comes straight from
the OFFICE upgrade box, the yellow sticker on the inside of the box.

Thanks Carey, so that would mean the Office CD from the original 2003
version, AND the CD from the 2007 upgrade, i.e. install both of them
in the notebook?

I wonder if this alternative would work: just put the 2007 upgrade CD
in the notebook CD drive, to see if the Office 2007 in the notebook
would accept it.

Is anyone else having this problem?
The Office 2007 in the notebook should accept the PKN, I don't
understand why it won't.

The "Upgrade" product key will not work.
You need to purchase a "Full Version" license.

Okay, thanks Carey, that's what I was afraid of.
I wish the upgrade product was a good enuf "proof of purchase". :-(

Thanks, Hal
