Hi there,
Due to recent worm (msblast) I have updated my service
pack and is currently running service pack 4 for windows
2000 Pro. All the patches and updates were successfully
downloaded from Microsofts web site and installed
accordingly.
Prior to these updates I experienced an 'svchost.exe has
generated error'. I think this error messages was caused
by the W32.blasterb worm - but that seems to be okay now.
I now have the following problem:
1) Word 2000 application crashes my computer each time I
activate it.
2) Excel and Access + MS Powerpoint works okay, except if
I want to print something the computer crashes too.
3). IE 6.0 (Service pack 1) seems to work fine too,
however, when I want to print something from the web the
computer crashes again.
I have uninstalled the MS office 2000 application
completely, re-booted, re-installed MS office 2000 -
hoping this would help. BUT NO. Above described problems
seems to occour regardless my efforts to uninstall +
install the software. There are no error messages
appearing, the computer screen just goes black and crashes.
I am not sure who it is possible to run Excel and the
other programs mentioned under point 3 and when it comes
to MS Word 2000, it does not run at all.
I am also running Symantec Firewall + Systems Works Pro
2003. A scaning of the computer confirms that there are no
viruses, nor any missing files.
Hence, question is - Are there any Microsoft patches for
above mentioned problems?
