MS Office 2000 - How to Selectivel Install Access 2000 ?

A

I have an MS Ofiice 2003 Disk which contains only Word, Excel and
Outlook.

I also have an older Installation Disk for MS Office 2000 which also
contains MS Access 2000.

I would like to use this latter disk to selectively install Acess 2000
but have forgotten how to do this so that I can avoid installing all
the other MS Office 2000 Apps which are included .

Could somone please explain to me how to perform this selective
installation from the MS Office 2000 disk?

The MS advice is to install the earlier version first, therefore you would
need to uninstall Office2003.
Also since Office 2k doesnt install into a version specific folder you would
need to custom install (which you would need to do anyway to install only
Access) office2k, select only Access, and install to a specific folder, eg
/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office2k.
Then run Office update to install office2k critical updates.
Only then, once Access is seen to be running ok, install Office2003, and run
Office update.

Thanks for that advice.

I didn't realise that was the way to go about it .

I'll follow that procedure but what I was really asking about and ,
perhaps, didn't make myself clear enough was the bit about how to
instal only Access 2000 from the Office 2000 CD so that I don't end up
with all the other OFFICE 2000 Apps as well.

I've never done one of those partial Office 2000 installations before.
Do I merely click on the Access refrence in the Installation disk ?
and ignore the others there ?

You Custom Install, then go through all the Components you dont want, and
ensure the option to 'run from computer' is not selected.
Obviously Access, should be 'run from computer'
PS You might also need some of the components for Access, converters/help
eg, that I recollect are under Tools?
