MS Office 2000 sr-1 update did not complete successfully

I just reformated my hard drive,. and reinstalled in that order:
Win XP
all the Win XP updates
Norton Internet Secuty
all the Norton updates
Microsoft Office 2000

I am now trying to get the updates for Office 2000, but I can't install any!
When I go for sr-1 (like the Update Utility suggests), I get the message:
"MS Office 2000 sr-1 update did not complete successfully. For assistance
contact Mucrosoft technical support."
I tries to manually install later updates, such as sr-3, but it also fails
to install.

Any idea on what the problem might be?

Wladdy,
Just a suggestion, but try in this order:
Win XP
no Win XP updates
Microsoft Office 2000
apply suggested updates, in order
apply suggested Windows updates, in order
install Norton
apply suggested updates
disable all Office plug ins under options.
First try and disable any Norton plug ins for Office under options /
miscellaneous.
