MS Office 2003 and Outlook 2003

I was wondering if there were any drawbacks to having Outlook 2003 be a
separate install from Office 2003. Everyone in our corporation gets Outlook
2003 however only fulltime office personel get Office 2003. I've noticed
when installing Office XP if you had Outlook XP already installed it didn't
remove Outlook XP before installing Office XP (because the product code is
different and it is the latest version). I wanted to avoid confusion for
the desktop technicians as to whether the Office 2003 installation has or
doesn't have Outlook 2003. When forcing a recache of the msi on the clients
workstations, if I only had to update Outlook then I wouldn't have to
reinstall all of Office. My supervisor was concerned that there might be
certain integrated functionality that you get with Office (including
Outlook), that you don't get with Office and a standalone installation of
Outlook.
