MS Office 2003 "backwards compatibility"

Is MS Office backwards compatible with MS Office 97 re: Word/Excel/Power Point?

Have changed computers (Windows). Have Office 97 on old and anticipate
having Office 2003 on new.

Wish to be sure of seamless transfer from old to new before committing.

Hi Bert, you should have no problems accessing all your '97 stuff under
Off 2003.

If you use Outlook 97 and intend to use Outlook 2003 but may try to share
the file with the older version, do not use the new format for Outlook 2003
..pst files. It is not backward compatible.
