MS Office 2003 broke MS trackball function....

Jeff

This is a dupe from the hardware ng but since nobody over there has replied,
maybe someone here will be able to help:

Just updated from MS Office 2000 to Office 2003. I'm using a Trackball
Optical (MS) with Intellipoint 5.2 drivers.

I have the scroll wheel button function set to double click. It works
properly in all applications except MS Office 2003, Excel and Word. And the
double click function worked properly with Office 2000.

This is a minor annoyance but an annoyance never-the-less. Anyone have a
fix or work around?

Upgrade to the 5.3 drivers.

After further furious head scratching :)......

Y'know, I would've sworn I just looked a day or so ago and that 5.2 was the
latest version. However, tonight I looked and Intellipoint 5.5 is out. So
I installed it. No change that I can see.

I'm not sure if v5.2 was exhibiting this exact behavior, but now what I
notice is that if in the open file dialog box I click on a file once with
the scroll wheel button, nothing happens. But if I wait a length of time,
more than a double click setting would ever allow, and click again, the file
opens.

Weird.

Anything other suggestions Milly?

Thanks again in advance....
