MS office 2003 can't create files new save greyed out

S

Silke

I cannot create a file in all the MS Office SBE 2003 applications. i.e. Word,
Excel, Publisher & Powerpoint. The New, Save, Save As are all greyed out.
Open, send to, properties OK. Also the fonts toolbar are all greyed out e.g
Bold, Itallic, underline.
Tools such as options, customise, spell check are alsom greyed out.
It seems my document is only open for reading.
To get round it I've done:-
i) Ran MS Office repair.
ii) Uninstalled MS Office SBE 2003.
iii) Reinstalled MS Office SBE2003.
iv) Deleted normal.dot.
v) Ensured there's no duplicate around by going into Help and Activating
Word & Excel.
All to no avail. Any help most gratefully received.

Is it a full version? Did you activate it? Could you have been using a trial
edition and it's expired? (This what I'm thinking is the problem.)

Sounds like an activation issue. Did you activate Office? Is your
version of Office a trial version?

Go to Help/Activate Product to either activate Office or to obtain a
phone number you can call for assistance in activation issues.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

Beth, many thanks for your prompt reply. I tried activating Word and Excel.
Just seemed to accept it. I'll see about activating the whole Office product.
Thanks again.
