MS Office 2003 - disastrous folder results

O

Ole Man

Have MS Office 2003. While setting up Excel 2003 options and changing font
size and color, the open Excel file starting opening a copy of all files in
the folder/directory which consisted of excel, word, PDF JPEG files. The
only way I could stop or exit was to go to task manager and logoff. When I
open the folder again and copy a file into a new folder the copying of all
files starts again if I copy and then open an Excel file. Crazy! I repaired
Office 2003 but no change. OS is Windows Vista. The folder is messed up. I
am not quite sure where to put this request. Any suggestions will be
appreciated. Many thanks for forthcoming assistance.

It sounds like when you were in Tools/Options you set an Alternate Startup
location and pointed it to the folder that contains the files you are
seeing. Were you trying to set a default file location when you were in
Tools/Options? If so then you used the wrong text box. :) Return to
Tools/Options in Excel and delete the path from the Alternate Startup
location.

Nice job Beth. I did initiate "At startup, open all files in .....".
Evidently I did not take time to realize what that entailed. T'is great have
that disaster taken of.
Many thanks. The 'Ole Man'
