Hi, Heris,

Try re-installing Office again. What version of Office 2003 do you have?

Hi Susan,
I tried re-instal office already but it does not still working. I have
Office Pro 2003. It looks like I have not permission to open that. But I
realy have not clue what is going wrong. I have tried to open office on
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
and system says that I have not permission to open that.

Are you able to uninstall? Are you getting any kind of error message
regarding permission, or just the message "Please wait while Windows
configures..."? Are you logged into the machine as an administrator? What
operating system do you have?

I have MS VISTA HOME PREMIUM and I am loged as an administrator. I tried to
uninstal Office many times without any problems.

Do the applications lauch at all, or does the system just hang? If they do
finally launch, then there may be other versions of Office installed on your
system that could / should be removed. You might remove other versions of
Office if you have any installed. If Office 2003 was originally
pre-installed on another computer you may have issues because its license
and installation is tied to the previous system and may have been customized
for Windows XP. Try installing one Office application at a time and see if
you are able to launch each successfully. If possible, try installing the
CD on a different machine--preferrably with the same OS to eliminate any
issues where something on the CD may have been corrupted and not recognized
until Office launched.

Otherwise, I would try these steps (in this order):

- Uninstall Office 2003
- Uninstall any previous versions of Office that may still be installed
(ensuring you have your original installation media and product keys, if you
want to re-install them later)
- Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove registry references to
all Office applications (can be found at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/)
- Clean out your temp folder (c:\winnt\temp, c:\windows\temp, probably)
- Run a scan disk to check for any disk errors
- Run a disk defragmentation to optimize the disk
- Re-install Office 2003 clean

With such a generic message and no visible error message, it's very
difficult to diagnose an issue online. If, after that, you aren't able to
determine the cause of the issue, are receiving no error messages when
Office launches, I would contact PSS to assist with the installation.

Hello Susan,
I probably know already where the problem is. I really had installed MS
Office on my laptop before. I think that the problem is that some part of
previous installation is still in registers. Even, I have MS Office folder in
Program Files folder which is impossible remove. System says that I have not
a permission for that (I was logged on as administrator). I tried to remove
old parts of previous installation from registers via "regedit" but some
parts are probably still there. I tried some uninstaller but unseccessfully.
I know that the best way for that is reinstallation operation system.
Honestly, I am a bit scared about that because I have never do that before I
mean reinstall OS MS Vista Home Premium. I have only recovery DVD which I got
when I bought my acer laptop and I do not know for sure if this DVD includes
full instalation and drivers etc. So, my question is: Do you have any idea
how would be possible to remove previous installation completely from my
laptop? Thank you for any help

Have a nice evening

There is no way to "completely" remove Office from your system without
re-formatting, unfortunately. Uninstalling via the Control Panel does a
pretty good job, if it works.

I would still suggest you consider trying the steps in the order I showed.
The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility should help you remove registry
references to old versions of Office, and then you can try re-installing
Office to restore them properly.

Just make sure you have all the installation CDs and product keys you need
to re-install before you remove the registry references.
