MS Office 2003 Pro Crash

Up until this past Friday (11/17) all Office products are working fine.

Recent attempts to open any Office program results in a near immediate
crash. In Excel it takes about 5 - 20 seconds before the crash, in Word it
happens right away.

A window opens up shortly after startup which says: "Microsoft Office Excel
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." Under that is a check box asking to start Excel in safe mode,
recovering the file. When that option is selected Excel re-opens, but then
crashes again with the same window coming up.

I have selected the "send" information about the crash and follow up with a
visit to Office update, but nothing has changed.

The only major changes I have made to my laptop on or about the time of the
error was an upgrade to IE7 and a couple of the add-ons (password reminder).

I have a Gateway M275 Laptop
Intel Pentium M, 1.6GHz, 591MHz, 504 MB Ram.

Corrective action I have taken:
I have uninstalled and reinstalled office
I have uninstalled IE7
I have tried a system restore

None of these has resulted in any change to the Office crash problem.
