MS Office 2003 Will Not Install

S

Steve S

I am busy rebuilding my TabletPC software load (Windows XP Tablet Edition
2005). I overwrote my entire hard drive and reinstalled Windows XPTE, all of
which appeared to go smoothly. After downloading and installing all updates,
I started reinstalling applications, leaving Office unil near the end.

I have repeatedly tried to load Office from my installation disk. I have
the correct product key. The first few failures were:

"A required installation file P2561407.CAB could not be found"

The instructions were to load the installation disk and press OK. Of
course, the installation disc was already loaded! I tried cycling the CD
tray, etc., but the installation would not proceed. I would then quit the
install, reboot my tablet, and try again. Each attempt would result in a
different CAB file being "missing."

What the $#@&^% does the installer want?

PS: Really, REALLY bummed that the only way that MS will talk to me about
this is if I pay them $35+... for THEIR software... that DOESN'T WORK!
