MS Office 2008 update problem

So I updated MS Office 2008 few days ago and then Word won't start. The
Autoupdate Manager comes up, asks me if I want to register, etc, I say
no, then it stops and Word is dead. I had to remove Word and reinstall
it fresh - with no update it seems to be fine. But it would be nice to
stay current. Anybody else had this problem with Office 2008 update?

I purchased Apple with Microsoft Suite 2008 put on at store. Microsoft AutoUpdate comes up and says there is a critical update that I should do. I click install. It goes through as though it's updating and then says looking for updates and comes back with the same thing and nothing is installed. Says it is critical. The update says Microsoft AutoUpdate 2.1.1 How do I get to the point of when I click install that it will install? (e-mail address removed) Will check back also on Mactopia.

Upon checking I have Version 12.1.0 Shows: Latest Instalaled Update of 12.1.0
