how do i burn an exact working copy of my intranet site to a cd? I need to
be able to browse the cd just as if i were browsing from the web site itself.
Thanks and any help is much appreciated

It depends, are you using any forms, flash, or other elements than just
plain HTML, CSS, and images? The reason I ask, when outside a web server
these things can be problematic. For example, a browser will give you a
warning if a flash animation is present in a page when viewing that page as
a file on your hard drive (or CD). This is to protect you from code being
run on your computer with a higher level of security than you would want.
What you can do though is open your default file directly in IE without
using a web server and see how your site behaves. If it behaves the same as
the one on your web server you'll be ok. If there are problems when viewing
it this way they'll also be on the CD. After that, just copy the files onto
a CD and give it a whirl as there's really nothing else special you can do
with the HTML files on a CD. Be aware though, if they're not HTML files and
are other files such as PHP or ASP, ASPX, or CFM files, you could run into
trouble as all of these file types are designed to processed by the web
server first so sometimes the browser may not see them as valid HTML files
when viewed off a CD.

This assumes that you have access to the files themselves. If you don't have
access to the raw HTML files then you should talk to the administrator of
the intranet as giving advice about how to copy an intranet site that you
don't have access to the raw files is not a good move on our part since it
could be assisting in theft of corporate property.

Hope this helps,

Publish the site to a folder on your HD, then burn the folder to the CD. However this will make all
files read-only, so if you want to avoid that issue, zip the folder first, then burn the zip file to
CD.

As i said most my experience is not in frontpage(obviously). does publishing
the web site mean i am changing its location or does publish simply mean
making a copy? i got to the publish site part but i am not sure as to what
information that i need to enter in the 3 tabs before it will allow me to
publish the site. all i am trying to do is make a usable copy on cd, as we
are currently being audited and they requested one and i am stressed out
trying to figure this out. thanks and have a good day!!

In the publishing dialog, set the remote properties to be c:\sitebackup etc. and then burn that
folder to a CD
