MS Office Is Not Genuine

A

Andrew Lee

I purchased an OEM version of MS Office Pro 2003 in June 2004, and I have
been using it ever since then, including several occasions of updates (up to
SP3). For the past two days I have been getting error messages when I
opened an Office application indicating that I do not have a genuine copy of
Office.

What can I do to LEGITMATELY eliminate this error message? Thanks for your
help.

Thanks Milly for your reply.

I am not at my home computer which has the "genuine" problem, so I cannot
give you the exact wording, but the message essentially states that I do not
have a genuine Office and the dialogue box provides two buttons; one button
is "remind me later" and the another brings me to a Microsoft website that
has instruction to remedy the problem. Unfortunately, the instruction shows
how to UNINSTALL Office! The website also suggests that I buy a validated
copy of Office.

I do not mind uninstall and reinstall MS Office Pro 2003, but to my
understanding that the problem will still persist. I searched the internet
for a solution and saw that there are hacks to go around this "genuine"
problem. I legally purchased this product, and thus, I want a legal solution
that Microsoft sanctions.

Can you help me? Thanks again.

The link you had provided is the same website that the validation failure
dialogue box directed me to go. It is a place that provides instruction to
UNINSTALL Office on my computer and offers an opportunity to buy a validated
copy.

Is there a Microsoft phone number available that I use to talk to a tech
person to have him undo the "genuine" issue from his side? I do not feel
that I should pay for the service call when the problem is created by
Microsoft.
