Problem: reinstalling Office Pro 2003.
Background: picked up a virus which deposited a shortcut for MS Outlook
(which I had chosen not to install from the master CD).
Got rid of the virus but discovered that usability of MS programs (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) had all been adversely affected.
Attempted to repair using the master CD but got the error message "The
installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the
source exists and that you can access it." The file it was looking for was
C:\Program Files\OfficeUpdate11\Cabs\511691\ but it was missing, possibly
part of the virus problem.
Then attempted to remove MS Office Pro 2003 using Add/Remove Programs. This
was successful but even after re-booting, every attempt to reinstall MS
Office Pro 2003 gives me the error message above at which point the setup
process exits.
One other point - still got the folder C:\Program Files\microsoft frontpage
with sub-folder \version3.0 and sub-sub-folder \bin. Any attempt to delete
these folders gives the error message that another program is using it and
it can't be deleted.
How can I resolve this problem so that I can reinstall MS Office Pro 2003?
I've had to temporarily install OpenOffice.org 2.0 in order to keep using my
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files but I would much rather be using MS Office,
especially after having spent so much money buying it and so much time using
it.
Can anyone help, please?
