Make sure you apply the latest updates: there is an issue with Office 2007
running on Windows XP, and a patch that fixes it.
The issue is that Office 2007 relies heavily on Windows Desktop Search for
its functionality. Windows Desktop Search in turn expects to run quietly in
the background at the lowest possible priority, so it doesn't get in
anyone's way.
Unfortunately, Windows XP does not sport Thread Prioritisation it's a new
feature in Vista). Application priorities, yes, but not thread priorities.
This can slow the system to a crawl if you have Outlook running on Windows
XP.
If you disable Windows Desktop Search, speed will improve dramatically, but
you lose the new smart functions. Much better to apply the patch
Hope this helps
There are no indications that any response has been posted relating to the
slowness of MS Office Professional 2007 - Very Slow
I have 1.3gb RAM and this is very slow compared to MS Office Professional 2003
