MS Office purchased by download-pc was repaired-programs lost?

MS Office purchased via download when pc was new after "trial offer" so I
have no physical software disc as proof of purchase. PC was recently
reparied and now all programs are gone. Can I download from MS again for
free or am I forced to purchase same programs twice?

Providing you still have your Product Key you should be able to download the
product again and activate it. That Product Key is important and a copy of
it should be kept in a safe place.

I'm sure I had a copy of it on my pc but everything was cleaned out when
repaired. May have it on a scrap of paper somewhere...had a better chance of
finding a real disc. Should have known better than to purchase online.
Seems like MS would keep that info for registered customers for just such
emergencies?

No they dont (unless you can provide proof of purchase, in which case you
can obtain a cd/key)
When you download/purchase you are given the option to purchase the cd
BTW Buying from eg Amazon is generally cheaper than buying from any online
provider, eg MS. Not only that but you get a cd

OK thanks. I was hoping to do this the easy way but I'll look really hard
before purchasing again (not via download this time)

There is nothing wrong with purchasing software online for download, as long
as you save the Product Key. There have been stories here posted by people
who still have the CD but can't find the Product Key anywhere. If you have
the email receipt or purchase confirmation, Office Customer Support may be
able to help you, but that is probably on the PC along with your copy of the
Product Key...
