MS Office SR 1 Word 2000

Have just installed this version of Office 2000 on a P4
Toshiba laptop running their version of Windows XP, after
uninstalling Office 2000 Professional. Word seems to run
OK, except when you click on "Format" on the standard
toolbar,and then "Font", or click directly on the Fonts
key on the Formatting toolbar. Then the "Fonts" dialogue
box either comes up after a long delay (rarely), or most
often, Word simply stops responding altogether. I've
downloaded all Windows and Office 2000 updates, but
problem persists. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike

What printer do you have selected as the default? Is it a local printer (or
is the driver installed locally)?
