I just bought a Dell Latitude D830 last week. It has Office Basic on it
(Word, Excel, Oulook, Tools) but I realized afterwards I need PowerPoint. The
most affordable option was to purchase MS Office Ultimate online upgrade from
MS, which I did.
I have XP Pro SP 2 and Vista Business on my laptop, but I run XP. I acquired
my Product Key, ran the software download from MS's site, and it accepted my
key. After about 10 minutes of downloading, when it finished, it asked if I
wanted to do the Express install or Custom. When I click either (I've tried
this twice) it pauses, then gives me a message in the box that it has
encountered an error. Nothing more.
I don't even know where to begin to resolve this. MS's website was of no help.
Is something screwing up because I previously had Office Basic installed? Is
it because I'm running XP SP2? I have no idea, but any ideas, help or
suggestions would be appreciated!
